What Observo Can Do

Not sure what’s in front of you?
Observo can identify everyday items like your wallet, a muesli bar, or your favorite book sitting on a shelf.
Forgot to pair your socks and now you're in a rush?
Just take a photo — Observo will describe the colors and patterns, so you'll never leave the house with mismatched socks again.
Not sure whether you have euros or pounds?
Take a photo of the banknotes you’re holding and Observo will describe them — perfect for a quick banknote recognition.
Need to read a menu or a letter?
Whether you’re at a restaurant or sorting through your mail from your mailbox, Observo can read any text out loud for you. Just take a photo.
Lost your keys but know you left them in the hallway?
Take a quick snap of the wooden cupboard and Observo will tell you: "A set of keys, a flower, and a candle on the wooden cupboard."
Traveling and need a quick translation?
From café menus to information boards near monuments, Observo can translate text instantly, helping you understand what’s around you wherever you are.
All in one tool, no other apps are required.
How to launch Observo
Observo is built into multiple parts of BlindShell Classic 3:
- From the Camera
- From the Image Viewer
- In the BlindShell Vision Aids section
- Or just ask Luna to open it for you!
And just a side note - an internet connection is required for Observo to work.
How it works
From Camera
Take a photo with your BlindShell Classic 3 and press the Confirm button.
Then select Use Observo.
Choose from five different modes, depending on what you need:
- Image Description – Get a clear overview of what’s in the picture.
- Text Recognition – Extract written text from the image, even longer passages.
- Color Description – Identify the colors of objects in the photo.
- Banknote Recognition – Identify and hear the value of banknotes.
- Translate Text – Translate written text into your language and have it read aloud.
Observo will analyze the image and describe or read it out for you, clearly, quickly, and accurately.
You can also share the result through your favorite app by pressing the Confirm button again.
From Vision Aids
You can also access Observo directly in the Vision Aids section. Just open it, take a photo, and select what you’d like it to do. Whether that’s identifying a color, reading text, or translating text.
If you use Observo frequently, you can add it to your Favorite Apps and open it anytime by short-pressing the side action button on the right side of your phone.
From Image Viewer
Already have a saved photo? Open it in the Image Viewer, choose Use Observo, and let it describe, read, or translate what’s in the image.
