SightCity 2026: Three Amazing Days in Frankfurt, Germany

Published: 15. June 2026

Dear BlindShell Friends,

Have you ever visited Frankfurt am Main in Germany in Europe?

Here are a few interesting facts about the city. Fourteen of Germany's fifteen tallest skyscrapers are located there, giving Frankfurt its famous nickname, "Mainhattan", thanks to a skyline that resembles Manhattan in New York City. Frankfurt is also known as the birthplace of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, one of Germany's most celebrated writers. And if you ask a local what you should try during your visit, there is a good chance they will recommend Apfelwein, the region's traditional apple wine.

The city's distinctive high rise buildings rise above the River Main, where boats are moored along the waterfront. Pink and orange clouds stretch across the evening sky, creating a picturesque view of Germany's financial capital, often nicknamed "Mainhattan.

But every May, Frankfurt becomes something else entirely. It turns into the place where thousands of visitors gather for SightCity, one of the largest assistive technology conferences in Europe.

For BlindShell, SightCity is one of the highlights of the year. And the preparations start months in advance. Our marketing and sales teams work on booth design, demonstrations, meetings, and marketing materials, while our customer support and operations teams make sure everything is ready for three busy days in Frankfurt.

The journey from Prague to Frankfurt takes around seven hours by car. While that may sound like a long drive, it is actually the easiest part of the adventure. Upon arrival, tables must be assembled, phones prepared, and furniture arranged. Every detail has to be checked before the first visitors walk through the doors. We transport dozens of boxes full of marketing materials and merchandise for the visitors.

A large backdrop shows a family using BlindShell, while visitors can explore phone features such as Luna, Observo, and Tandem. The booth is arranged as a welcoming meeting space for product demonstrations and conversations with attendees.

For three days, we meet hundreds of people from all over the world. Some visitors discover BlindShell for the very first time. Others stop by to share their experiences, tell us how they use their phones, or learn more about the latest features available on BlindShell Classic 3.

One of the biggest surprises this year was our mascot. A giant BlindShell Classic 3 spent three days wandering through the halls of Kap Europa, greeting visitors, posing for photos, and dancing. Wherever it appeared, smiles quickly followed. It quickly became one of the most recognizable faces of our booth and brought plenty of fun to the busy exhibition days.

Our new BlindShell mascot, designed as a giant golden BlindShell phone with a keypad, screen, and bright BlindShell logo, poses proudly next to a BlindShell display banner. With its playful stance and friendly energy, the mascot quickly became a favorite among visitors, spreading smiles and bringing extra fun to SightCity 2026.

We also organized a daily BlindShell competition. Every day, one lucky visitor won a BlindShell prize. In fact, our Day 1 winner was so excited that they came to collect their prize almost immediately after the draw. The remaining prizes safely made their way to their new owners by post after the conference.

Wearing sunglasses, a light jacket, and holding a white cane, the winner stands smiling beside the mascot. Together, they capture a heartwarming SightCity 2026 moment filled with excitement, gratitude, and the sense of community that makes these events so special.

Along the way, we gave hundreds of product demonstrations, met partners from around the world, answered countless questions, and had the chance to show visitors what makes BlindShell special. We also took plenty of photos, shared lots of laughs, and probably drank more cups of coffee than we dare to count.

The booth features product displays, QR codes, and information about BlindShell features such as Tandem and Observo. The bright exhibition space is ready to welcome visitors interested in accessible technology for blind and visually impaired users.

By the end of the conference, everyone is tired, but it is the kind of tired that comes from doing something meaningful.

And here comes another surprise: we are already looking forward to seeing you again at SightCity 2027. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth. See you next year!
